.threads: big/little style - the mother/son edition.

a couple weeks back, i had the absolute pleasure of having over two of the most creative ladies i know for a little blog collaboration and play-date. the girls behind just bella and adventures in pinksugarland, or christine and andrea, respectively. if you've been following my blog for a while, you probably have seen this guest post from christine, or our wedding photo's done by andrea [she's also the talent behind the lens of pinksugar photography]. yep, not to gush or anything, but those beautiful ladies and i hung out all morning!

we let the kiddos run wild [i personally think jack was in heaven just following cole around, alice in heaven in my jewellery cupboards, and lila in heaven ransacking jacks bookcase], and then us ladies sorted through mine & jacks [extensive, as christine and andrea called them] closets for a special edition of those adorable big/little style posts that are a personal fave of mine over at just bella.
this one, a special mother/son collaboration.

here is jack and i working our picks, but if you want to get all the links [and to check out christine's beautiful styling] click here to head on over.
we tried to get the suspenders on the dapper little dude, but with a grumpy and tired baby, this was all we were going to get. so we took our loss but still think he looks so darn adorable.

thanks again, ladies, for the awesome play-date and just fun being had all around. till the next round....

.threads: wedding lace and a peplum.

over the long weekend, my cousin got married. it was an awesome day/night, filled with loads of love and dancing. it was even better because jack had his first sleepover at babcia and dziadek's house [polish for grandma + grandpa!] and this momma got to have a few drinks and relax! all went well at the sleepover, besides a rather sleepless night for babcia zosia, but i suspect she didn't mind one little bit. i on the other hand, had a really hard time saying 'buh-bye' those first few minutes at the hand-over, but felt i dealt with the separation after a few hours rather well. helps that i know the woman loves my little man almost as much as i do. so thank you, zosia.

also helped to think of the amazing trip the hubby and i are about to take, just the two of us, in a couple months so i'd better get used to the idea of leaving the little man overnight with someone i trust.

guess i could have called this post, 'parenting success with the first sleepover'.

for attire, i went with my newest acquisition from anthroplogie. a burgundy lace peplum dress. i seriously have nothing but rave reviews from this beaut - i mean, i got to eat dinner and not have to suck it in for the rest of the night! that is an absolute win in my books! that little lace puplum detail around the mid-section hid all the bits i wanted hidden, and the short length allowed me to show off all those squats i do while holding jack non-stop throughout the day. i also found the lace material just dreamy, and the shade of burgundy gave me a little rosy-glow. and how about those melanie auld earrings! just perfection, no? [and they are on sale! whoop!]

**only 2 more days to vote for my family in the H&M fashion family contest! we're currently holding first, but it's a tight competition so please head on over and give us your vote. we could use each and every single one! many many thanks my friends!

.threads: who says you can't wear white after labour day? not this girl.

remember when i mentioned in this post here, that you need to get yourself a pair of white skinny denim jeans this summer. well, i still hold true to that statement, even moving into fall. however, the questions and concerns i got from you all with that single post was enormous. and the number one comment being, "i'm too scared to wear white pants". but i ask you this, ladies - why are you are all scared to wear white?

sure 'white' anything has a stigma that it'll add weight to your figure, or get dirty and stain, or that you can't eat in them. etc, etc. and ladies, i understand your concerns but take it from me....i have a child. i play on the floor [a lot!]. i am not stick thin. and i enjoy food immensely [perhaps, i do avoid spaghetti while wearing them...].
but ladies, white jeans rock! they basically pair well with everything thus providing endless mixing possibilities, as well as take the wear-everyday-basic-jean and turn your outfit into something fresh! i really believe that anyone can wear this trend, even after labour day, just make sure you get yourself a pair that fits well and ooze that confidence! i adore my white jeans and i hope this urges you to try them out too!

2] bobbi brown navy & nude eye palette [my #1 newest eye palette must have! i need this palette in my collection, pronto! i feel a navy eyes makeup tutorial happening soon!]

4] jcrew piled stones bracelet [jcrew has impeccable taste in jewellery and i have never been upset in a bracelet purchase from there. this has the most perfect muted coloured stones and i love that is could possibly go with everything.]

.my new stella & dot website, plus fall 2013.

stell & dot, fall 2013
so the other day an acquaintance asked me if i sold stella & dot as she wasn't quite sure, which in turn made me realize that 'damn! perhaps i am not speaking about it enough' [and hopefully you are not rolling your eyes at me right now, thinking that i speak about it too much! an addiction is an addiction! it can't be helped!]

so that is how i rolled up my sleeves and finally got around to making my stella & dot website! you can click on the link below, or at anytime under my banner titled 'stella & dot' above!

so without further ado, please go over and take a peek. let me know what you think. the new fall line was just released and holy dyna, there are some pieces on there that have me drooling! you'll be seeing a bunch of it pop up here and there in style posts, but until then, here are a few ultimate fav's!

.threads: an anniversary outfit in yellow.

last night the hubby and i celebrated our 3 year anniversary. it was a quiet, intimate night [the joys of a wednesday] and we kept things pretty low-key this year with just dinner for two at a new restaurant we'd been dying to try. peter also brought home some champagne, flowers, and dessert [a fav - macaroons!] for afterwards, which was a lovely surprise. that man - let me tell you - he can get pretty darn romantic when he wants too....
so jack went to the babysitter and we got all done up for our night out. it was lovely and just what us two love-birds needed.

as for attire, i decided that a bright sunny yellow top was a nice change to the classic black that i normally throw on for a date night and glammed it up with a soft creamy-gold skirt. i also grabbed my newest stella & dot sparklers [this necklace can be styled 5 different ways! damn, it's really awesome!] and found it the perfect addition to my outfit. because as we all know, in my opinion, nothing says romantic and sexy like some beautiful sparkly jewels!!

.threads: dressy black shorts.

one of my favourite looks for a date night in the summer [or any dressier outings, i suppose], are styling a cute pair of dressy shorts. the combo of shorts with heels and a sheer shirt makes my heart swoon. you get to still show some sexiness with your [pretend you see a visible golden hue here!!] tanned legs looking awesome in those heels and you give a little mystery with a sheer shirt. your date will be thinking, "hmmm....i can almost see what's under there, but i can't wait for a close-up!!". also, the shorts are beyond comfy! win! win! and win!

threads: wedding florals.

this past weekend we attended my step-sisters wedding. it was a lovely evening, filled with delicious food [a pasta bar! a sushi bar! a salad bar! a meat station! a candy buffet! and my fav - an ice cream station!!!], a beautiful bride and catching up with family. it was a perfect day and we had an absolute blast. but then again, since becoming 'mommy' just about any old excuse to dress up makes me deliriously happy!

after not 'feeling' a romantic taupe coloured lace dress that i had originally planned on wearing, i decided to pull out a sheath dress from my closet that i purchased while i was pregnant and hadn't had a chance to wear yet. the florals felt summery enough, while the short length lent a little sexiness to the dress - and bonus! after all that eating, i didn't feel restricted in some tight outfit!
for some finishing touches, i added some tan heels with a bit of edge [a metallic heel! yes!] which added some contrast to the soft florals, curled my hair, and threw on some of my favourite jewels.
