.jack's firsts: camping.

this post is late in getting to you, but i didn't want to miss out on posting it and sharing another one of jack's firsts! camping!

this was a 'cheat' camping trip as we just spent 1 night over in my parent's fifth-wheel, but there was a fire and s'mores so i'm counting it.
jack handled it like a champ, staying up as late as he could before falling asleep in grammy's arms as she sang him my childhood song, edelweiss. we also survived freezing to death [in the fifth-wheel no less!] after grandpa dan decided that april was warm enough not to turn on the furnace [it wasn't!!!].

all-in-all, it was a fun overnighter with my family. i guess its these simple and sweet memories that i want to preserve forever, and it makes me so grateful that i have this little blog to solidify them.
^^^trust me jack's bottle was empty! and what a cheeky daddy^^^

.outdoor fun with kids.

while my son is way too young to enjoy any outdoor activities right now, i seriously can't wait till next year when he is just about a year & half and hopefully walking and playing with as much craziness as we can handle. with so many awesome [and fun!] winter activities to beat those cabin-fever blues, i am already stock piling a few of these items as nothing beats playing in the snow, especially when you live up here in canada!

here's some of the coolest winter toys i've come across this year, and if you live in any sort of snow climate you would probably win an 'awesome mom + dad' award if you got a few for your kiddos too!

lets get those kids outside and physically active!

1] ideal sno brick builder || $5.95. this ever-so-helpful brick builder will assist your kiddos in probably building the most awesome igloo or snow fort ever! a must in my books!
2] lucky bums children skis || $79.95. probably the cutest / most stylish little person skis i have ever laid my eyes on. this super cool retro looking pair comes in two sizes and i'm sure will be the first purchase my husband will make for outdoor play!
3] sno-crayons || $5.95. now your little artist can play outside too! these crayons fill up and enable your little one to draw in the snow. awesome!
4] shovels || $12.95. little ones love to help mama and papa tidy up around the house [it makes them feel 'so big!'], so why not get them to help you outside with a colourful shovel! make a fun game out of it and you have yourself some free labor! and your sidewalks will never look so good!
5] junior hockey skates || $159.99. a little pair of skates! umm, adorable! get your little one on the rink early and he/she will be passing you the puck in no time! a great way for you to burn some calories as well!
6] zipfy sled || $39.95. have a little daredevil on your hands? let them whip down the hill on this sucker!
7] sno stomper || $24.95. these are probably my most favourite find of the lot! these mini snowshoes leave monster and animal tracks when your wee ones walk on the snow! how adorable is that? only wish they made adult versions....
8] ideal sno ball maker || $5.95. little hands have a hard time shaping snow balls with their tiny fingers so help them out with this awesome snow ball maker and you'll have a fun battle going in no time!

any cool outdoor toys that you've found and score points with your kids?? i'd love to hear about them!

.Golden Red.

Yes Sireebob.
These where picked right off our little apple tree in our backyard!
And the coolest thing is that this Apple tree actually grows 5 different kinds of apples {it's grafted, and each branch grows a different kind}.
You're impressed aren't you?
They are just scrumptious.
Sweet, Crunchy, and not too shabby in Size either.
I cannot wait to get into baking for the upcoming season and if you're lucky enough you might even get to sample a little of the sweetness.
Now, what to make??
Any suggestions or great apple recipes hiding out there?
Isn't Fall just the Best?
